In a brief ceremony held in Kumasi, the MTN Foundation presented scholarships to 60 brilliants but financially challenged students from the Northern sector of Ghana.
These students are pursuing various courses at 17 public universities across the country. The scholarships are part of MTN's Bright Scholarship program, which
was launched in 2018 to support students in the fields of engineering, information communication technology (ICT), computer science, and the sciences.
The selection process was rigorous, resulting in the selection of 120 beneficiaries, with a focus on academic excellence and inclusivity.
The program also extended its support to persons with disabilities, aligning with MTN's values of inclusivity and fairness.
The scholarship covers tuition and hostel fees and provides a stipend to each beneficiary every semester. In addition, each student receives a laptop from MTN as part of the scholarship package.
Dr. Gordon Sabutey, a member of the interview panel, congratulated the awardees and encouraged them to maintain or improve their academic records to make the investment in their education by the MTN Foundation worthwhile.
Mr. Samuel Koranteng, a Board Member of MTN Foundation, expressed the company's satisfaction with the impact the scholarship program has made on the lives of beneficiaries. He emphasized MTN's commitment to investing in the future, particularly in digital skills, which are crucial in today's world.
Mr. Koranteng encouraged the awardees to pursue excellence not only for themselves but also for the betterment of society. He assured them of MTN's unwavering support throughout their educational journey and in their chosen academic fields.
The MTN Foundation remains dedicated to implementing projects that positively impact the lives of beneficiaries and contribute to the development of the nation.
