Ghanaian artiste and former Burniton Music Group signee, Barbara Naa Okailey Nyarko, popularly known as OV, has openly refuted rumors and misconceptions about her involvement in drugs and smoking. In a recent interview on Kwaku Manu's Aggressive Interview show, OV clarified that she has never been a drug addict and has never smoked weed.
OV expressed her frustration with the incorrect assumptions made about her based on her appearance and looks, emphasizing that these judgments do not reflect her true character. She further elaborated that her only indulgence is in wine, and her close associates can attest to this fact.
She stated, "I have never smoked or indulged in hard drugs. The only thing that I love is wine and people close to me can testify. I've never smoked in my life."
This isn't the first time OV has addressed such rumors. Last year, during an interview with Giovani Caleb on 3FM, she revealed her struggle with depression, which led to a mental breakdown and her subsequent two-week confinement. During this time, she was unknowingly given an overdose of medication, which left her paralyzed for two weeks. However, her absence from the music scene was wrongly attributed to drug addiction, a claim she vehemently denied.
OV's journey in the music industry began when she won the MTN Music Reality show in 2018. Her exceptional talent and stage presence caught the attention of the Burniton Music Group, leading to her swift signing onto the label following her victory. Her debut release, "Want Me," featuring reggae dancehall icon Stonebwoy, quickly gained recognition.
However, OV's partnership with Stonebwoy was relatively short-lived, raising questions and speculation when news broke about a year into her contract that she and her label mate Kelvyn Boy were parting ways with the record label. During her interview with Kwaku Manu, OV challenged the media to uncover the truth behind her departure from Stonebwoy's record label.
